Judging Architecture
29.11.2003Approached by the RAIA to create a book to celebrate 75 years of award winning architecture in Victoria, we discovered that there was a twenty year period from 1942-1962 when only one building was awarded. As a result we coordinated a rejudging process of the 75 years which resulted in 36 projects being selected. John Gollings then masterfully completed a rephotography survey of the projects to create a potent comment on how we value and respect our most significant architecture.
At the same time we were working on this project, we had begun working with Heide Museum of Modern Art and due to the scheduling of their redevelopment, an exhibition programming opportunity came about which resulted in the 36 sets of images from the rephotography survey being exhibited in the Heide II gallery. The galleries original design as a house by David McGlashen in the late 60s for John and Sunday Reed, was one of the aforementioned 36 projects.
